NEW LEWI coming at you!

New_Lewi_Photo_1_009_500_px.jpg“Hip-Rock artist with a Jamaican flair,” is how New Lewi describes himself. An emcee originally from the island of Jamaica, New Lewi performs live with his own rock band and aims to be the most influential rap artist of all time. As a rap artist being marketed in the rock genre, New Lewi takes the many successful past collaborations between hip-hop and rock artists a step further, fusing both genres into his own inimitable style. His ultimate goal is to eventually create a new sub-culture called Hip-Rock.

New Lewi first fell in love with rap music when he heard the legendary Big Daddy Kane, so he’s not surprised that many see him as a modern day reincarnation of Kane. New Lewi’s style is also very similar to Gym Class Heroes, but has more of a commercial appeal and incorporates his Jamaican roots, which sets him apart from other artists. Brother Lewi, as some of his spiritual friends call him, provides good positive music that edifies instead of putting people down.

New Lewi does most of his performances in New York City, playing with his band in venues like Kenny’s Castaway, Lucky Jack’s, Canal Room, The Ulysses, Production Lounge, Killarney Rose, Rockwood Music Hall, and many others.

New Lewi has been pursuing his dream of being an artist for over seven years now, but has been involved in the music industry for much longer. He served as the personal assistant to the CEO of an independent label called Godmafia Enterprises. With Godmafia, New Lewi opened for Jadakiss in West Virginia, and was part of a music video recording for Rza (from the rap group, Wu Tang Clan).  New Lewi’s nine years of experience with Godmafia gave him the confidence he needed to launch his own company, New Lew Music, in 2007. He produced a compilation album the same year, called, “The Cornerstone,” and one of his songs, “Devil Is A Liar,” was played on radio stations in Ohio, Texas, Arizona, and Michigan.  He also released a song called “Marti Wright” for welterweight boxer Martin Wright, which was played on ESPN’s website for sports highlights.

In 2009, New Lewi released his “Hip-Rock” EP, which got the attention of Michael Dones, who is now his manager and business partner. Michael Dones had great success managing artists such as Nuyorican Salsa Boyz, Mini Band, Junior and the Band, Raw Finesse, and King Dee. Together they are building a team, the Hip-Rock Movement, which includes other great artists and seasoned veterans in the music industry. The Hip-Rock Movement fully supports New Lewi as the open door to enter main stream. Their goal for 2011 is to build a large fan base for New Lewi.
